Zhang Leads Cardinal On Day Two

Mar 26, 2022

PHOENIX, Ariz. – No. 1 Stanford women's golf sits in fourth place following two rounds of the Ping/ASU Invitational at Papago Golf Course. The Cardinal is at 2-under, and just two strokes back of No. 2 Oregon and No. 19 Baylor for second. The hosts, Arizona State, are taking advantage of a familiar course and lead by 17 strokes at 21-under.

Rose Zhang finds herself in familiar position, in third-place at 5-under and just three strokes back of the lead entering Sunday's final round. She will be chasing ASU's Ashley Menne (8-under) and Alexandra Forsterling (7-under).

The highlight of Saturday's round was Aline Krauter's hole-in-one on the eighth hole. It was Krauter's second hole-in-one of her collegiate career, and Stanford's third (also Rachel Heck, Caroline Sturdza) of the season.

Stanford will play with Arizona State, Oregon and Baylor off the first hole beginning at 8:36 a.m. on Sunday. Following the final round, Zhang, Krauter, Sturdza and Heck will all travel to Georgia to play in the Augusta National Women's Amateur, which begins on Wednesday. Angelina Ye and incoming freshman Megha Ganne will join the group to make six Cardinal in next week's field.
