Washington Rally Falls Short to No. 3 UCLA

SEATTLE – The No. 9 Washington softball team dropped the series finale versus No. 3 UCLA on Sunday afternoon, 5-4. The Huskies fall to 20-10 on the season and a 1-5 record in Pac-12 play.
Gabbie Plain got the start in the circle, tossing 3.2 innings with four hits, two runs scored and three strikeouts. Sarah Willis took the loss, her second of the season, after pitched 1.1 innings in relief. Pat Moore came in and worked the final two innings, allowing one run with a season-high five strikeouts.
Madison Huskey, Lilly Agan, Kelley Lynch and Rylee Holtorf led the Huskies at the plate with two hits each. Olivia Johnson led the team with two RBI. 
UCLA opened the game with a pair of runs on three hits in the first inning to jump out to a 2-0 lead.
The Huskies responded in the bottom half of the inning. Baylee Klingler hit a leadoff double and was brought in on a Johnson two-run homer to tie the game at two.
Washington took its first lead of the series in the third with Huskey's solo home run for the 3-2 advantage.
The Bruins tied the game again in the fifth after scoring a run on a wild pitch.
In the sixth, UCLA retook the lead, 4-3, on a Washington error that scored the runner at third. The Bruins added an insurance run in the seventh on a solo home run.
Down a pair of runs, Washington rallied in the seventh, beginning with a Jadelyn Allchin one-out single. In the next at bat, Kelley Lynch hit a double that brought in Allchin from first to cut the Bruins' lead to one. Following a Holtorf walk, Washington had runners on second and first with two outs and a fielder's choice ended the game at 5-4.
The Huskies return to the Pac-12 action on Friday when they travel to Arizona to begin a three-game series with the Wildcats. First pitch from Rita Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium is set for 5 p.m. and airing on Pac-12 Network.

Madison Huskey recorded her 10th multi-hit game of the season. Huskey hit her seventh homer of the year.
Rylee Holtorf had her second multi-hit game of her career.
Baylee Klingler extended her on base streak to 17 games.
Olivia Johnson recorded her sixth home run of the season. 
Pat Moore tossed 2.0 inning in relief and picked up a season-high five strikeouts.
Washington out-hit the Bruins, 11-7.
