Cougars Heading To Oregon
PULLMAN, Wash.— The Washington State men's and women's track and field teams are again on the road this weekend. The teams will be heading over to Eugene, Oregon, for the Hayward Premiere, which will feature 36 schools from all levels of the NCAA. The meet will take place April 1-2 at Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus.
The Cougars are off to a great start to the 2022 outdoor season with 10 student-athletes holding marks that would qualify them for the NCAA West Preliminaries. Two Cougars hold NCAA top-20 marks in field events, graduate student Mitch Jacobson is eighth in the high jump and freshman Valentina Barrios Bornacelli is 16th in the javelin throw. In running events, three Cougs hold NCAA top-20 marks, freshman Micaela De Mello is 11th the 100m hurdles, sophomore Peyton Teevens is 16th the heptathlon, and sophomore Caroline Jerotich is 16th in the 3,000m steeplechase.
The Hayward Premiere will start Friday, April 1, at Hayward Field. Events begin Friday at 3:00 p.m. PT, and ends at 9:40 p.m. PT. The meet will pick back up Saturday, April 2, at 11 a.m. PT., and runs to 4:00 p.m. PT. A full schedule of events and starting times can be found here.
A total of 36 schools from all levels of the NCAA will be in Eugene this weekend. Washington State, host Oregon, and Oregon State will be representing the Pac-12 at the meet. The Cougars will be sending 58 student-athletes to compete at Hayward Field this weekend. A complete list of accepted entries can be found here.
