Bears Fall In Game One Against Beavers

Apr 1, 2022

BERKELEY – California dropped the opening game of the series against No. 23 Oregon State on Friday, falling 4-0 to the Beavers at Levine-Fricke Field.

The Bears (21-13, 3-4 Pac-12) got hits from Sona Halajian and Alexis Bishop in the loss. Oregon State (27-8, 3-4 Pac-12) was propelled by a complete game in the circle from Sarah Haendiges.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Hendiges was perfect through four until Halajian led off with a rocket shot single off of the wall in left center, but she was stranded as OSU took a 3-0 advantage to the sixth frame.

Cal starter Haylei Archer battled all game, allowing four runs on eight hits while striking out five Beavers at the plate. The Bears tried to get a rally going in the seventh when Bishop delivered a long one-out single, but a strikeout and groundout ended the inning and the game.
