No. 15 Bruins Edge No. 24 Huskies

LOS ANGELES – The Husky women's tennis team went toe to toe with 15th-ranked UCLA on the Bruins' home courts for the second time this season, but couldn't quite make history repeat itself. After earning the program's first ever road win at UCLA back in January, the Huskies dropped a 4-1 match at the Los Angeles Tennis Center today, with two singles matches in close third sets when the Bruins clinched.
 
Washington (13-6, 4-2 Pac-12) trailed 3-1 with the final three matches all in third sets, and UW needing to win all three. But UCLA was able to clinch with a 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 win at No. 5 by Elise Wagle over sophomore Yolanda Lin. Nika Zupancic was at 4-5 in her third set against Sasha Vagramov and Hikaru Sato was at 2-3 in her third set with Kimmi Hance when the match was decided.
 
The Huskies got another big win from sophomore Sarah-Maude Fortin as she beat 67th-ranked Elysia Bolton for the second time this season, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 2 singles. Fortin is now 14-2 in dual singles play this season.
 
UCLA won the doubles point and got a win at No. 6 singles, with Vanessa Ong stopping Kelly Leung, 6-3, 6-2. 47th-ranked Abbey Forbes bested Husky senior Vanessa Wong, 7-6 (4), 6-3, at No. 1 singles.
 
Washington can bounce right back on Saturday as UW meets No. 21 USC at 12 noon.
