Young Bears Take Their Turn On The Water

Apr 1, 2022
The Bears will send two younger boats against Stanford and UC Irvine this Saturday.

BERKELEY – The Cal women's rowing team returns to the water on Saturday morning, taking on Stanford and UC Irvine in a pair of duel races at Redwood Shores. The Bears will send a younger lineup consisting of athletes who didn't compete last weekend at the San Diego Crew Classic.

"The racing this weekend at Redwood Shores versus Stanford and UC Irvine is a great opportunity for some of our younger athletes to get their first collegiate race under their belt," said head coach Al Acosta. "Many of them did not race in San Diego last weekend. But they've put in plenty of miles this year so I think they're ready to get after it on Saturday."

Cal's Third Varsity eight boat will race against the Cardinal at 9:00 a.m. with the 4V8+ boat taking on the Anteaters at 9:15 a.m.
