Klingler Grand Slam Lifts No. 11 Huskies Over No. 19 Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 11 Washington softball program clinched the series with No. 19 Arizona on Saturday afternoon, coming away with the 7-5 victory. The Huskies improved to 22-10 and 3-5 in Pac-12 action.

Kelley Lynch got the start in the circle and tossed four innings with three strikeouts. Pat Moore came in and pitched three innings with four strikeouts, picking up her fifth win of the season.
Arizona struck first in the bottom of the second with a solo home run to take the 1-1 lead.
Baylee Klingler responded in the third with a solo home run of her own to tie the game at one run each. Klingler extended her Pac-12 leading home run number to 15 following the dinger.
The Wildcats retook the lead in the bottom half of the inning on their second home run of the game, this one by Allie Skaggs.
Arizona extended its lead, 3-1, in the fourth after a leadoff walk and a defensive miscue by the Huskies lead to the RBI single by Bailey Thompson.
Angie Yellen led off the fifth with a home run, cutting Arizona's lead to one at 3-2.
The Wildcats extended their lead once again in the fifth on a two-run single by Sharlize Palacios for the 5-2 advantage.
Looking for a rally in the seventh, the Huskies got the first three batters on by back-to-back singles by Kinsey Fiedler and Lynch and hit by pitch for Yellen. Jenn Cummings drew a one-out walk, cutting Arizona's lead to two, 5-3. Klingler came up and belted her second home run of the game over the center field wall to take the 7-5 lead.

The series concludes on Sunday with 12 p.m. first pitch at Mike Candrea Field at Rita Hillenbrand Stadium. The game will air on Pac-12 Networks.

Baylee Klingler hit her 15thand 16thhome runs of the season to extend her Pac-12 leading number. Klingler hit her fourth career grand slam, all of which have come this season. The senior needs one more home run to move into a tie for ninth in single season home runs.She also hit her fourth multi-home run game of the season.
Angie Yellen hit her third career home run in the fifth.
Twelve of the 19 Washington runs in the series thus far have come on homers.
