No. 3 USC Beach Volleyball Walks Off With 5-0 Sweep of No. 9 Wahine

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. – No. 3-ranked USC beach volleyball (17-1) posted its 11th 5-0 sweep of an opponent this spring (123rd all-time) with a win over No. 9 Hawai'i (16-9) in the Trojans' second dual of the UCLA Invitational at Manhattan Beach Pier on Saturday, April 2.
The Women of Troy won their 16th-consecutive dual (the fourth longest streak in program history) and improved to 15-3 all-time against the Rainbow Wahine. USC also goes to 14-1 all-time on Manhattan Beach sand.
For the second time on the day, Mollie Ebertin and Sunny Villapando delivered the clinching point; this time with a 21-16, 21-17 win over Ilihia Huddleston and Riley Wagoner at the No. 5 position. Ebertin-Villapando improve to 13-1 and now ride an 11-match win streak.
The Trojans scored their first point of the dual from court two where Megan Kraft and Sammy Slater extended to a 12-match winning streak to remain undefeated with a 21-13, 21-15 win over Kylin Loker and Sarah Penner. USC went on top, 2-0, when Audrey Nourse and Nicole Nourse collected their 10th win of the season on a 21-18, 21-14 win over Jaime Santer and Megan Widener at the No. 4 position.
At the top court, Tina Graudina and Hailey Harward battled it out with Kaylee Glagau and Brooke Van Sickle for a 21-19, 21-14 win to push USC ahead, 4-0. It was their 13th win in a row as they improve to 14-1 on the season. 
On court three, a 31-set win streak held by Delaynie Maple and Julia Scoles came to an end as Anna Maidment and Sofia Russo took the first set, 21-19. Undeterred, the Trojan duo fought back to get a three-set win with 21-11 and 15-13 results in the second and third. Despite the end of their incredible set streak, Maple and Scoles remained undefeated on the season and are now 18-0 with the win.
In a non-scoring exhibition match, Caroline Schafer and Shannon Scully picked up a 21-10, 21-18 win over Amirah Ali and Lea Kruse.
The Trojans continue play at the UCLA Invitational with a 9:30 a.m. PT meeting with No. 2 TCU (28-0) on Sunday, April 3. USC concludes play with a rematch against No. 15 Florida International (15-3) at 1:30 p.m.
