Delaney Schnell and Dwight Dumais Earn Pac-12 Diver and Coach of the Year Honors

Apr 4, 2022

TUCSON, Ariz. - Senior Delaney Schnell has earned Women's Pac-12 Diver of the Year honors along with head diving coach Dwight Dumais earning Pac-12 Diving Coach of the Year honors.

This marks back-to-back Pac-12 women's Diver of the Year honors for Schnell, while this is the first award for Dumais as a head diving coach.

Delaney earns her second Pac-12 Diver of the Year honors after a dominant 2021-2022 season. She was awarded Pac-12 Diver of the month in November 2021 after sweeping her only two events, 1 meter and 3 meter, at the beginning of the month when the Cats faced off against USC and UCLA. She won the 1 meter by a margin of 61.85 points and the 3 meter by a margin of 90.55 points.

The senior diver would go on to win the 1-meter and Platform events at the Pac-12 Championships, while also setting a program record in the 3-meter with a score of 388.70. At NCAA Championships, Schnell earned All-American honors in 1-meter, 3-meter, and platform events. She placed fifth in 1-meter, fourth in the 3-meter, and the national runner-up in the platform.

Dwight Dumais earns 2022 Pac-12 women's Diving Coach of the Year honors after a huge season from his divers. Under Dumais, the women's 3-meter record was broken, coached Delaney Schnell to All-American honors in all of her events, and of course coached the 2022 Pac-12 Diver of the Year. Dumais is the second coach in program history to be voted Pac-12 Diving Coach of the Year joining Omar Ojeda in 2015.
