Apr 5, 2022

NAPA, Calif. – With a five-stroke improvement from its opening round, Arizona Women's Golf moved up to fourth place with a round of 4-over as a team at the Silverado Showdown. Carolina Melgrati led the Wildcats with a 1-under round of 71 on Tuesday as one of only seven players in the entire field to break par in the second round.

"I thought we really focused on our corrections from yesterday and posted a quality round today," said head coach Laura Ianello. "Carolina carded a very strong round to lead us and set the tone for our entire team. We really found our groove after the turn today, which allowed us to end the day on a high note."

Melgrati shaved four strokes off her opening round to help boost the team's overall improvement. She sits in a tie for 10th at 2-over for the tournament. Lilas Pinthier, who made six pars and three birdies on the back nine, sits right behind Melgrati in the overall standings in 12th place at 3-over.

As a team, Arizona shot 4-under on the back nine on Tuesday. The Wildcats, at 13-over for the tournament, sit four strokes behind second-place Oregon and three strokes behind Texas A&M entering Wednesday's final round.
