Apr 6, 2022

NAPA, Calif. – Wednesday's third round of the Silverado Showdown saw two Wildcats break par to propel the Arizona Women's Golf up the leaderboards for a second consecutive day. Carolina Melgrati and Lilas Pinthier led the Wildcats in the final round as the team finished in a tie for third with Texas A&M at 16-over par.

"We played a great final round today to cap a good week for us," said head coach Laura Ianello. "This was a great tournament experience for us to build momentum going into the Pac-12 Championships in two weeks. I am proud of our young ladies on how they prepared for this tournament and how they competed."

Arizona's third-place finish placed it ahead of Pac-12 foes USC, Oregon State and Arizona State by seven, 10 and 12 strokes respectively. It also matched its highest team finish of the season, which includes a third-place finish at the Pac-12 Preview in November.

Melgrati's 3-under round of 69 on Wednesday came on the heels of her 1-under second round on Tuesday. The freshman finished the tournament in a tie for sixth at 1-under, which marked her best finish of the season. Pinthier shot 2-under in Wednesday's finale to end her week in a tie for tenth at 1-over par, which also marked the best finish of her season.

Arizona returns to action at the Pac-12 Championships, hosted by Oregon, at the Eugene Country Club on Monday, April 18.
