The First Pitch: Things to Know
It's the beginning of a seven-game home stand for the Utah baseball team as the Utes host No. 15 nationally-ranked UCLA in a three-game Pac-12 series at Smith's Ballpark. Game times on Friday, Saturday and Sunday are set for 6 p.m., 2 p.m. and 1 p.m. MT.
• Winners in four of its last six games played in Salt Lake City, Utah is in search of its first win against a ranked opponent this season. The Utes had two ranked victories during the 2021 season, coming in a 5-3 road triumph at No. 21 Oregon State (April 3) as well as a 7-6 walk off vs. No. 23 Arizona State (April 25).
• The last top-15 win for the Utes came on April 20, 2019, when the squad took down No. 12 Arizona State at Smith's Ballpark.
• While historically the Bruins have had Utah's number, in two of the last three series in Salt Lake the Utes have pulled out a win. It includes Utah taking two of three from UCLA in the 2016 season—the year of the Utes' first Pac-12 Baseball Championship.
• Utah's home stand continues against Arizona on Thursday-Saturday, April 14-16, and concludes in a Tuesday, April 19 tilt vs. BYU.

Recap in a Minute
• Utah is looking to bounce back from a tough one this past Tuesday, as the squad fell by a 14-3 score at Utah Valley's UCCU Ballpark. Despite the loss it was the Utes' third three-home-run game of the season, with two coming off the bat of TJ Clarkson—for Clarkson's second career multi-homer game. His nine big flies on the season lead the team and is tied for third-most in the Pac-12.
• Chase Anderson also launched his fourth home run of the season, all coming in the last 12 games.
• Clarkson doubled in the game as well, with the game seeing Clarkson extend his reached base streak to 27 straight contests.
• Anderson and Clarkson's homers at Utah Valley brought the team's total to 26 on the season, surpassing the club's 2021 finish (24) and recording the most since the 2018 season (28).
• Pac-12 play resumes after the Utes took two of three games at Washington State last weekend. It marked the first road series win in Pac-12 play for the Utes since 2019.
