No. 6 USC Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Concordia Again

LOS ANGELES—Sam Kobrine had 16 kills while hitting .343 to help the No. 6 ranked USC men's volleyball team sweep Concordia 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 33-31) in Irvine, Calif. on Saturday (Apr. 9). This was the second night in a row that the Trojans swept the Eagles.
USC improves to 19-6 on the 2022 season, while the Eagles dropped to 10-14 overall. 

Simon Gallas tallied 13 kills of his own (.259) and added on 7 digs, 1 block, 1 ace and 1 assist. Brandon Browning collected 11 kills with 3 digs and 2 blocks. 
For Concordia, Owen Chun collected 10 kills hitting .179, while Jonathan Carlson added 9 kills hitting .250.
As a team, USC hit. 368 compared to Concordia's .231.
The Trojans took a 13-10 lead to start the first set. The Eagles continued to battle and stay within one point as USC led 22-20, but the Trojans closed out the set with a massive kill out of the middle from Liam Schroeder to win 25-23. 
The momentum stayed on the USC side of the net as the Trojans took an early 10-5 lead. USC continued to dominate as the team extended its lead to 20-14. Concordia pushed points, but USC closed out the second set with a 25-20 score. 
The Eagles jumped to a 13-9 lead in the third set and were determined not to let the Trojans win in three sets. The Trojans were able to make adjustments on their side of the net and tied up the set at 21-21. Both teams continued to exchange points back and forth, but in true "Fight On" fashion, the Trojans prevailed and won the third set 33-31 to claim the match. 
Up next, the Trojans travel to Phoenix to challenge Grand Canyon in their final two MPSF matches of the season. The Trojans take on the Lopes on Friday (Apr. 15) at 6 p.m. PT, and comeback the following night for a rematch on Saturday (Apr. 16) at 4 p.m. PT.
