Cal To Play In 2022 Emerald Coast Classic
NICEVILLE, Fla. – California is one of four headlining men's basketball programs that will compete in the 2022 Emerald Coast Classic tournament, presented by Global Sports. The tournament will be played Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 25-26, at Raider Arena on the campus of Northwest Florida State College.
The Golden Bears will be joined by Clemson, Iowa and TCU for the eighth-annual tournament. Game matchups will be announced this summer. For more information about the tournament, visit www.emeraldcoastclassic.com.
"We're excited that we continue to attract teams from the premier basketball conferences in the country," said tournament director Maury Hanks, chief executive officer of Global Sports. "We strive to bring the best college basketball teams possible to the Emerald Coast of Florida."
Previous Emerald Coast Classic champions include LSU (2021), Florida State (2019), Cincinnati (2018), TCU (2017), Virginia (2016), Iowa State (2015) and Ole Miss (2014).
It will be the second consecutive season that Cal has played in a Thanksgiving tournament in the Sunshine State; the Bears participated in the 2021 Fort Myers Tip-Off this past season along with Florida, Ohio State and Seton Hall.
