LOS ANGELES – Fueled in part by two clinching wins from Bryce Pereira, the No. 48 UCLA men's tennis team swept No. 68 Hawai'i in a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday at Los Angeles Tennis Center. The Bruins outlasted the Rainbow Warriors by a 4-2 score in the opener before turning in a 5-0 result in the afternoon match.

Pereira, Stefan Leustian and Giacomo Revelli each posted two singles victories on the day for UCLA (9-10, 2-3 Pac-12). Hawai'i (11-4, 4-1 Big West) earned the doubles point in the morning match, but would manage just one point the rest of the way.

The Rainbow Warriors got off on the right foot in the opener, with Simão Telo Alves and Kilian Maitre surrendering just one game to Jeffrey Fradkin and Karl Lee. Hawai'i would go on to capitalize on its early success, as Karl Collins and Andre Ilagan got the better of Revelli and Patrick Zahraj in a 6-4 decision on the top court.

The Bruins bounced back on the singles courts, where Leustian pulled his team even with a 6-4, 6-2 win against Kilian Maitre on Court 6. Their first lead of the day came soon after, as Revelli handed Seric a 6-2, 6-4 loss on Court 2. Next door, on Court 1, Zahraj earned his best win of the year by ranking, besting No. 27 Andre Ilagan by a 6-4, 6-3 margin.

Guillaime Tattevin cut the Rainbow Warriors' deficit in half with his 7-6(4), 6-2 victory against Eric Hahn on Court 4, but Pereira ensured their scoring would stop there. He closed out Collins in a 7-6(8), 4-6, 7-5 thriller on Court 5.

To start the afternoon contest, Collins and Ilagan picked up their second win of the day against Revelli and Zahraj on Court 1, 6-4. UCLA responded immediately on Court 3, though, with Leustian and Pereira teaming for a 6-2 takedown of Alves and Maitre. Then, in an all-or-nothing showdown on Court 2, Fradkin and Wild seized the final two games from Labrunie and Seric for a 7-5 decision.

After having his initial singles match of the day left unfinished, Lee was first off the courts in the second with his 6-3, 6-0 showing against Tattevin on Court 4. Revelli then completed his perfect singles day with a 6-3, 6-1 performance opposite Seric on Court 2.

Once again, Pereira provided the heroics on Court 5. His 6-2, 6-4 victory versus Collins represented his fifth in as many dual-match tries and third decider. Nearly simultaneously, Leustian finished off Alves, 6-1, 6-3, on Court 6.

UCLA hits the road next, visiting Weber State Friday at 10:30 a.m. PT. The Bruins then conclude their regular-season Pac-12 slate Sunday at Utah, with first serve scheduled for 1 p.m. PT.
