Golf Wraps Up Regular Season Play at ASU Thunderbird Collegiate

THIS WEEK
The Utah Men's golf team will compete in their final tournament of the regular season at the ASU Thunderbird Colligate in Phoenix, Ariz. Hosted by Arizona State, the two-day tournament will run Friday-Saturday, April 15-16, with the Utes looking to head into post season play on a high note. Utah has competed in the last four ASU Thunderbird Collegiate tournaments with their highest finish coming last season when they tied for sixth after shooting 22-under (830).

THE FIELD
The Utes will compete in field of 15 teams that includes ASU, Baylor, Boise State, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, San Francisco, SMU, South Florida, Texas Tech, UCLA, and UNLV.
 
UTAH'S LINE-UP
The Utes' five-man lineup will once again consist of seniors Tristan Mandur and Blake Tomlinson, sophomore Javier Barcos, redshirt freshmen Martín León and true freshmen Braxton Watts.

"It should be a great tournament this week and we played really good golf at this event last year. Everyone is excited to compete in our last regular season tournament and the golf course should provide a good challenge that I believe we will be ready for."

TOURNAMENT DETAILS
The ASU Thunderbird Invitational is a two-day tournament consisting of 54 holes with 36 being played Friday and the final 18 on Saturday. The event will take place at the Papago Golf Club with action slated to start on both days at 8 a.m. MDT. Play will begin with tee times on Friday followed by a shotgun start on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
The Utes competed in the Duck Invitational on March 21-22 and saw their best performance of the season. The team shot 2-under (850) and placed second out of a 14-team field with four Utes finishing inside the top-10. Tomlinson led the team finishing in fourth-place shooting 2-under (211) while Barcos also had a strong outing shooting 1-over (214) to tie for sixth. Mandur and Watts both finished in a tie for ninth after shooting 2-over (215) and rounding out the team was Leon who tied for 35th after shooting 10-over (223).
