Runnin' Utes Add Backcourt Depth with Signing of Exacte Jr.
SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah men's basketball team added depth and size to its backcourt on Wednesday after head coach Craig Smith announced the signing of Will Exacte Jr. for the upcoming Runnin' Utes campaign.
"Will is a tenacious player as a 6-6 and 225 pounds guard," said Smith of Exacte Jr. "He is very strong and athletic. He competes with great force on both sides of the ball and brings great versatility to our team. With his size and skill, he can play any perimeter position on the floor. Will has also played at a very high level over the last couple years as a member of the NBA Academy."
A three-star shooting guard according to On3.com, Exacte Jr. comes to Utah from NBA Academy Latin America by way of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The 6-6, 225-pound guard joins the Runnin' Utes with plenty of experience playing against top athletes in his time with NBA Academy Latin America.
Prior to joining NBA Latin America, he prepped at Collège Notre-Dame back in Montreal while also playing with the Sun Youth Hornets. He also competed with the Under Armour Canada Elite team in the AAU circuit.
Exacte Jr. most recently played in the All-Canadian Boys Basketball Game earlier this month. He also played at the National Prep School Invitational held at Rhode Island College as well as The Skill Factory Tournament of Championships in Atlanta. Additionally, Exacte Jr. participated in the Tarkanian Classic back in December where he helped NBA Academy Latin America to a 2-1 record. Exacte Jr. was also integral in NBA Academy Latin America's 68-45 win over NBA Academy Africa as part of the NBA Mexico Week Exhibition Games back in September of 2021.
Exacte Jr. is the fourth Canadian to attend NBA Academy Latin American, joining Olivier Maxence Prosper (Clemson/Marquette), Bennedict Mathurin (Arizona) and Tre-Vaughn Minott (South Carolina).
