2022 Pac-12 Beach Volleyball Championship Day One
TUCSON, Ariz. - The first day of the 2022 Pac-12 Volleyball Championship kicked off Wednesday at Bear Down Beach with the top-three seeds as well as host and No. 5 seed ARIZONA winning their opening duals.
Of Wednesday's seven duals, six went according to seed with No. 1 USC, No. 2 UCLA, No. 3 STANFORD and the fifth-seeded Wildcats progressing into the winners bracket. No. 17 nationally ranked ARIZONA scored a 3-2 upset of fourth-seeded and No. 12 ranked CALIFORNIA to provide the Day 1 drama.
Cal later eliminated No. 8 seed OREGON via 3-0 sweep, and No. 7 seed WASHINGTON knocked out ninth-seed UTAH in five sets to leave the top-7 seeds, including five AVCA Top 20 teams, alive for Thursday.
Action resumes Thursday with No. 6 ARIZONA STATE and No. 7 WASHINGTON in the contenders bracket at 9 a.m. PT, followed by quarterfinal matchups between UCLA and Stanford at 10:15 a.m., and USC versus Arizona at 11:30 a.m.
