Plain Named Top 10 Finalist For Senior CLASS Award

Apr 14, 2022

SEATTLE – UW softball pitcher Gabbie Plain has been named as one of 10 finalists for the 2022 Softball Senior Class Award®.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior or graduate student and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

This season, Plain posts a record of 9-4 with a 2.36 ERA, 10 complete games, six shutouts and 113 strikeouts in 92 innings pitched. The Harrington Park, Australia native currently ranks third in the Pac-12 in strikeouts, in addition to third in the league and 12th in the nation in shutouts. Plain has been named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week twice this season and is the reigning Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year.

The finalists were chosen by a selection committee from a list of 30 candidates announced earlier this season. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner and fans are encouraged to submit votes online at the Senior CLASS Award website through May 23. Fan votes will be combined with those of the media and Division I head coaches to determine the winner.

The Senior CLASS Award® winner will be announced during the 2022 Women's College World Series in June.
