Knott improves javelin mark at Beach Invitational
Long Beach, Calif. – Ella Knott placed sixth in the javelin and improved her No. 8 all-time mark on Friday to lead an abbreviated list of Oregon State competitors on the Day 1 of the Beach Invitational at Long Beach State.
The sophomore from Lincoln City threw 150-6 on her third attempt to better her former PR of 149-1, set earlier this spring at Willamette University. Redshirt junior Jordynn Slater placed eighth at 147-7.
The Beavers also posted two all-time top-10 performances in the hammer. Redshirt freshman Markayla Billings took 15th place and assumed the No. 5 spot with a mark of 179-8; she had been No. 6 wth a PR of 175-4. Redshirt freshman Jade Whitfield moved from No. 10 to No. 9 by throwing 158-5, bettering her PR by more than four feet.
Redshirt sophomore Savannah Reilly cleared 5-5.25 in the high jump and tied for first in flights 1-2. Redshirt sophomore Paige Sefried placed fourth in flights 9-10 of the 800 in 2:19.62.
The final flights of some events, and all other remaining events, will be completed on Saturday, also at the Jack Rose Track.
The Beavers' distance crew will compete on Saturday at the Lewis & Clark Invitational at the Eldon Fix Track at Griswold Stadium in Portland. No field event competitors are entered.

The Beavers will compete at the Oregon Relays at Hayward Field in Eugene on April 21-23.
