Rucker Wins 2022 NCAA Vault Title; Seven Red Rocks Named NCAA All-Americans

Apr 15, 2022

FORT WORTH, Texas – Following both sessions of the NCAA Championship semifinals, Jaedyn Rucker has been crowned the 2022 NCAA Vault Champion. Rucker becomes just the fifth Red Rock in history to win a national title on vault.

Rucker posted the highest score between both of Thursday's competitions with her Yurchenko 1.5 that scored a 9.9625. The Mesa, Ariz., native joins Elaine Alfano (1982, 1983, and 1985), Megan (McCunniff) Marsden (1984), Kristen Kenoyer (1992), and MyKayla Skinner (2018) as national champions on vault. It is the second year in a row that a Utah gymnast has earned a national title after Maile O'Keefe was the uneven bars and floor national champion last season.

Along with Rucker's win, seven Red Rocks earned NCAA All-American honors from Thursday's semifinal. Rucker earned first team honors on vault, while Alexia Burch also earned first team honors after placing third in the first session with a 9.925. Abby Paulson, Kara Eaker, and Maile O'Keefe earned first team honors on beam after tying for first place with a 9.9375.
