Two Spring Dates Left for Buffs

Apr 15, 2022

BOULDER—Colorado soccer returns to Prentup Field for the final two weeks of the spring season, starting with Wyoming on Saturday (1 p.m. MT).

The Buffaloes faced their first and only road test of the spring last weekend at Nebraska. Colorado got two goals from Kayleigh Webb and Hannah Sharts converted a penalty kick to defeat the Cornhuskers 3-2.

"It has been a very productive spring," head coach Danny Sanchez explained. "We had some very good moments at Nebraska to take the 3-0 lead. It was disappointing to give up a couple of goals, but we learned a lot about ourselves. You don't always get games like that in the spring, so it was the perfect match to evaluate our players individually and the team as a whole. We are looking forward to our last two weekends as we continue to build to our fall season."

The Buffs are 2-1 in traditional matches this season. CU defeated UCCS on its opening weekend and lost in the final minute to BYU, 3-2. Colorado opened with a draw against BC United Women to start the spring in a three-period match.

Saturday's match against Wyoming will be the final full 90-minute contest of the spring. The Buffs will close the season with the revamped Colorado Cup next Saturday in Boulder. Northern Colorado, Denver, Air Force and CU will compete against each other in 25-minute matches, starting at 11 a.m. MT.

All spring contests are open to the public and have free admittance.
