UCLA in 14th After Two Rounds at Thunderbird Collegiate

PHOENIX – After two rounds of golf at the Thunderbird Collegiate on Papago Golf Course, the UCLA men's golf team is 14th in a 15-team field at 18-over 586 (300-286). Freshman Omar Morales owns the Bruins' best individual score through 36 holes at 2-over 144 (75-69).
 
Course host No. 4 Arizona State owns a two-stroke lead at 19-under 549 (278-271). No. 1 Oklahoma is in second and No. 2 Oklahoma State is in third, three strokes back of the Sun Devils.
 
Arizona State's Jose Luis Ballester has a slim one-stroke lead on the individual leader board at 10-under 132 (67-65).
 
Morales posted a 4-over 75 in round one and bounced back with a flawless front nine featuring three birdies in round two. Morales finished the second round with the first under-par and sub-70 score of his career with a 2-under 69. He is currently tied for 43rd.
 
Graduate Eddy Lai is tied for 51st at 2-over 145 after shooting a 3-over 74 in round one and an even-par 71 in round two. Lai recorded six total birdies on the day.
 
Freshman Pablo Ereño Perez is tied for 69th at 7-over 149 (77-72). Ereño Perez bounced back from his six bogeys in his first set of 18 with four birdies in the second round.
 
Freshman Alvaro Mueller is tied for 81st 9-over 151 (77-74). Junior Mason Greene, who made his season debut today, recorded a counting score in round one with a 3-over 74. Greene is in 85th at 11-over 153 (74-79).
