White, Stivers Named to 2022 NFF Hampshire Honor Society
IRVING, TX – Former Sun Devil football players Rachaad White and John Stivers were named to the 2022 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame announced Wednesday.
The distinction is awarded to college football players that best exemplify the student-athlete moniker. White and Stivers got it done on the field and in the classroom, joining a growing list of Sun Devils to receive this honor.
While pursuing a Liberal Studies degree, Rachaad White was able to maintain a 3.31 GPA. Despite being a junior college transfer, his hard work academically paid off, as he was also a Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll selection. John Stivers could not have excelled more in the classroom, as he boasted a 4.0 GPA in his Sustainability Solutions Master's program. Stivers was also a Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll selection, one of 16 Sun Devils to accomplish the feat.
Not only did the duo set a tone academically, they were also extremely impactful on the field. White, was one of the conference's top running backs in the Pac-12 last season, rushing for over 1,000 yards. He accounted for 30.5 percent of ASU"s total yards and 35.6 percent of ASU's total touchdowns. Thanks to his efforts, White was a Second Team Pac-12 All-Conference selection while being named the Frank Kush team MVP and the Danny White Offensive MVP. Stivers, a graduate transfer from Harvard, appeared in 10 games last season and made eight starts. He earned a scholarship midway through last season and was a valuable asset in ASU's rushing attack during the season.
The 2022 NFF Hampshire Honor Society comprised of college football players from all divisions who have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better throughout their college careers. The group comprised of 1,559 players from 313 schools for membership in the society's 16th year. The 1,559 honorees are the second most in a single year during the program's history, while the initiative has honored a total of 14,640 student-athletes since its inception.
To be nominated by their respective schools, members of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society must have completed their final year of eligibility in Fall 2021, attained a minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.2, met all NCAA/NAIA-mandated progress toward degree requirements.
