Baksa Named MPSF/KAP7 Newcomer of the Week for Sixth Time

Apr 19, 2022

TEMPE, Ariz. – Freshman attacker Vanda Baksa again was named Newcomer of the Week by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation for the sixth time this season. This is the third straight honor for her and fifth honor in the last six weeks. She is the only player in the conference with six individual honors this season, three ahead of UCLA's Maddie Musselman who has three.

Baksa assisted on four of the 12 goals in the 12-11 win over No. 14 Indiana in the regular season finale. She also recorded a goal of her own to extend her scoring streak to 17 straight games. On the offensive end, Baksa drew an exclusion which led to a power play goal for the Sun Devils.

She continued her impressive defensive attack by recording one steal, and one field block which keeps her in the top three, behind teammate Lara Kiss, in the conference ranks in those respective categories. Among program records, Baksa is second all-time on the season assists (49) and points (117) and is fourth on season goals scored with 73.

Others nominated: Rozanne Voorvelt (California)
