Round Two Suspended

EUGENE, Ore. – The second round of the 2022 Pac-12 Championship was delayed more than five hours on Tuesday, before Stanford women's golf even teed off for the second round. Stanford entered the day with a two-shot lead, but trails hosts Oregon and Arizona State by four strokes as play was suspended due to darkness at 8 p.m. with three Cardinal still on the course. The top six teams are separated by just five total strokes with 18+ holes remaining to decide a champion. 

The Cardinal continues to be led by Rose Zhang, who is even through 15 holes for her second round and 1-under for the tournament, in a tie for fourth. Brooke Seay (2-over), Aline Krauter (3-over) and Sadie Englemann (4-over) are all in the Top 20. Angelina Ye played on Tuesday in place of Caroline Sturdza and carded a 3-over 75. 

Stanford was originally supposed to tee off at 10:30 a.m., but play was suspended at 10:17 a.m. and did not resume until 3:30 p.m. The Cardinal teed off beginning at 3:39 p.m. and played with USC, who entered the day in second but sits tied for fifth following Tuesday's action.

The hosts, Oregon, took advantage of their course knowledge following the delay, combining for 14 birdies on the back 9 to shoot 3-under for the day. The Ducks, at 4-over for the tournament, are tied with Arizona State, and one stroke ahead of third-place Washington. All three teams finished their second rounds. 

Wednesday's plan calls for the remaining golfers to finish the second round at 7 a.m. before a tentative shotgun start at 9 a.m. to begin the third round. The forecast calls for a 90% chance of rain on Wednesday in Eugene.
