USC Women's Golf Ties For Fifth At Pac-12 Championships
Freshman Amari Avery registered her sixth top 8 finish in seven starts to highlight the USC women's golf team's efforts as the rain-soaked 2022 Pac-12 Women's Golf Championships came to an end Wednesday (April 20) at the Eugene (Ore.) C.C.
The Trojans' bid for a third straight title was halted today as No. 9 USC settled for a tie for fifth at 20-over 884 (292-292-300). Host Oregon won the Pac-12 crown at 6-over 870 while Oregon State and Stanford tied for second at 13-over.
USC was among five teams that had holes to finish early this morning following Tuesday's five-hour-plus rain delay and Avery finished it with a 4-under 68, which was her team-high-tying seventh round in the 60s.
She couldn't summon the same mojo in the final round as in the second, but she was good enough to post another top 8 finish, tying for fifth at 2-over 218 (74-68-76). She was 5-over Wednesday after six holes but finished the final 12 at 1-under.
Sophomore Brianna Navarrosa, who led after 18 holes, tied for 13th at 5-over 221 (70-77-74) for her fifth top 16 finish this season. She was 3-over through 4 holes but finished the final 14 at 1-under.
Sophomore Michaela Morard tied for 27th at 8-over 224 (78-71-75), freshman Xin (Cindy) Kou tied for 35th now at 10-over 226 (74-76-76) and senior Katherine Muzi tied for 37th at 11-over 227 (74-78-75).
Next up, USC will await its NCAA Regional assignment, which is scheduled for May 9-11.
