Washington Hits the Road to Face No. 19 Oregon

SEATTLE – The No. 11 Washington softball program travels to Eugene to face No. 19 Oregon in its fifth Pac-12 series of the season.
The first game of the three-game set is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. The Saturday game will be a 5 p.m. first pitch, with the series finale on Sunday at 3 p.m. All three games will air on Pac-12 Networks.
The Huskies sit at 25-11 on the season with a 6-6 record in conference play. Washington sits in a tie for third place in the Pac-12 standings behind Arizona State and UCLA, while tied with Stanford. This will be the third straight week Washington has played a top 20 opponent after the three-game sweep over Oregon State in Seattle.
Baylee Klingler currently leads the Pac-12 in home runs (18), which is third-most in the nation. Her 55 RBI are the second-most by an individual in the NCAA. Klingler leads the NCAA with 1.53 RBI per game.
Gabbie Plain continues to rewrite the Husky record books in her fifth and final year. This season, she ranks third with 125 strikeouts in the Pac-12. The Australian native is third in the Pac-12 with six shutouts. She earned Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week honors for the first two weeks of the 2022 season. Plain is 17 strikeouts away from 1,000 career K's.
The Huskies swept No. 19 Oregon State at Husky Softball Stadium. All three games were decided by one run and the series finale went into extra innings with the Dawgs coming out victories on a Madison Huskey walk-off sacrifice fly.
A pair of Huskies have been named finalist for two awards over the past week. Gabbie Plain was recognized as one of 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award. Senior infielder Baylee Klingler was named as one of 25 nominees for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year.
The Huskies hold the all-time record over the Ducks 60-31 with a 32-14 mark in Eugene.
Oregon sits at 26-13, 5-10 Pac-12 on the season. The Ducks are coming off a series loss to No. 25 Arizona in Tucson last weekend. Oregon had a midweek this past week vs. Portland State, which the Duck won 5-2 over the Vikings.
Oregon is led at the plate by Hanna Delgado with a .390 batting average, 13 stolen bases and 18 walks. Ariel Carlson leads the team with 12 home runs, while Allee Bunker has a team-high 35 RBI on the season. As a team, Oregon leads the Pac-12 in doubles (64) and sacrifice flies (14).
