Cats Split Day 1 with Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – No. 24 Arizona split the day, dropping the first game and winning the second.
 
Game 1 –Utah 5, Arizona 3
Arizona (26-16, 5-12 Pac-12) fell to Utah 5-3 in the first game. Izzy Pacho hit her fifth home run of the season and went 2-for-2 with two RBI.
 
Pacho's hit her home run in the first inning to give the Cats an early 2-0 lead. Utah (22-21, 5-9 Pac-12) scored one in the third and one in the fourth to tie the game.
 
The Utes then scored three in the fifth to take the lead on a three-RBI triple. Janelle Meoño – who made her first appearance since the beginning of March – drove in a run with an RBI single in the seventh, but the Cats couldn't regain the lead.
 
Hanah Bowen (9-8) got the loss for the first game after pitching 4.3 innings and striking out just three batters.
 
Game 2 – Arizona 8, Utah 0
The Cats won the second game, 8-0 to split the day. Devyn Netz shutout the Utes to earn the win and improve to 12-5.
 
Arizona scored 8 runs on 10 hits with seven RBI.  Carlie Scupin and Sharlize Palacios each hit home runs in the game. Meoño went 2-for-3 and Palacios went 3-for-4. Pacho went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
 
Arizona scored two runs in the first inning on an RBI ground-out from Pacho and an RBI single from Paige Dimler.
 
Pacho drove in another run with an RBI single in the third inning and Allie Skaggs scored Arizona's fourth run of the game on a throwing error by Utah.
 
Scupin hit her 16th home run of the season in the sixth inning to put Arizona up 5-0.
 
Arizona's offense exploded in the seventh. Palacios hit a leadoff home run – her her 13th of the season – to extend Arizona's lead to six. Then, Pacho hit her first career triple to drive in another run for the Cats. Scupin sent Pacho home on an RBI ground-out to give Arizona the 8-0 lead.
