Ereño Perez T-3rd After Two Rounds at Pac-12 Championships

SAMMAMISH, Wash. – The UCLA men's golf team is in fourth place and nine strokes back of the leader after two rounds at the Pac-12 Championships at Aldarra Golf Club on Monday.
 
Freshman Pablo Ereño Perez posted a pair of sub-70 scores to put himself tied for third on the individual leader board.
 
No. 8 Washington leads the field with a four-stroke advantage (-4, 706) over No. 4 Arizona State.
 
Ereño Perez's 5-under 137 two-round score marks the second time a UCLA golfer has placed within the top three after two rounds of a tournament all season (Devon Bling was T-1st after two rounds at Southwestern Invitational on Jan. 25).
 
Ereño Perez scored a 3-under 68 and 2-under 69 in his first two rounds of the tournament for his eighth and ninth under-par scores of the season. He notched five and four birdies, respectively, in his rounds.
 
Three Bruins – Evan Chien, Eddy Lai and Omar Morales – are tied for 16th at 2-over 144. Alvaro Muller shot a 1-over 72 that counted toward the Bruins' overall score in round one and Mason Greene shot a 3-over 74 that counted in round two.
 
Lai holed three birdies in each of his rounds, including an eagle on the par-5 11th. Both Chien and Morales notched four and five birdies in rounds one and two.
 
Mason Greene tees off first for UCLA in round three tomorrow beginning at 10:00 a.m. PT. Greene will be followed by Muller (10:12 a.m.), Chien (10:24 a.m.), Morales (10:36 a.m.), Lai (10:48 a.m.) and Ereño Perez (11:00 a.m.).
