SAMMAMISH, Wash. – Mateo Fuenmayor and Alfred Raja both finished finished at 2-over 144 over 36 holes Monday to pace the Oregon State men's golf team at the first day of the Pac-12 Championships at the par-71, 6,979-yard Aldrarra Golf Golf Club.
Fuenmayor opened the day at par and shot a 2-over 73 in the second round of action to help lead OSU, which finished eighth with an 19-over 729.
Fuenmayor totaled two eagles on the day. His first came on the par-5 third hole in the first round. He followed that up with another eagle on the par-5 11th hole in the second round of play.
Alfred Raja, playing in his first collegiate tournament since the Oregon State Invitational in October, had the best round of the day by a Beaver, opening with a 2-under 69 in the first 18. He'll enter day two tied with Fuenmayor at 16th after finishing with a 2-over 144 over the first 36.
Carson Barry picked up a team-high eight birdies on Monday, and finished at 4-over 146. He birdied the third, 11th and 12 holes in both rounds. All three holes are par 5s. Barry wrapped up day one's action in a tie for 34th.
Brandon Eyre was close behind at 5-over 147. He shot a 2-over 73 to open and followed that with a 3-over 74 in the second round. Eyre tallied seven birdies on the first day and enters Tuesday's action at a tie for 40th.
Jackson Lake opened with a 1-over 72, and will enter Tuesday's action at 6-over 148. He is tied for 46th.
Sean Kato came in sixth among OSU's golfers, ending the at 17-over 159. He finished 69th.
