Top-Seeded USC Beach Volleyball Sets Sights on Fourth Pac-12 Crown

Apr 26, 2022

LOS ANGELES – No. 1-ranked USC (28-1) received the top seed in the Pac-12 Championship and will carry a 27-dual win streak into the tournament as the Trojans take aim at a fourth Pac-12 crown. The Women of Troy will open play against either eighth-seeded Oregon (13-16) or ninth-seeded Utah (5-17) at 2 p.m. PT on Wednesday, April 27, at Bear Down Beach in Tucson, Ariz.

USC holds the top seed in the Pac-12 Championship for the fourth time in the six times the tournament has been staged since the conference began sponsoring beach volleyball in 2016 (no championship awarded in 2020). The Trojans own three Pac-12 titles and won back-to-back championships in 2016 and 2017. UCLA won it in 2018. As the No. 2 seed, the Women of Troy took down the Bruins to win in 2019 at Merle Norman Stadium. After the pause in 2020, UCLA did the same to USC as the Bruins took the No. 2 seed and won the 2021 title on home sand at Mapes Beach. The Trojans' 2017 Pac-12 Championship was won in Tucson. USC finished the season 38-1 and suffered its only loss at Bear Down Beach to UCLA in the winner's bracket final. The Trojans are 28-1 all-time in the state of Arizona and have won 21 straight duals in the Copper State since that lone loss.
