USC Baseball Blasts No. 13 UC Santa Barbara, 13-7
LOS ANGELES – The USC baseball team scored 13 runs on 16 hits, including four homers, on Tuesday night at Dedeaux Field, beating No. 13 UC Santa Barbara 13-7 in a non-conference matchup.
Trevor Halsema had two of USC's four homers as the Trojans improve to 20-18 overall on the season. UC Santa Barbara falls to 27-10 on the year.
USC had an early 1-0 lead before UCSB put up five runs on four hits in the top of the fourth to jump in front. The visitors' advantage was short-lived, however, as USC came back with eight runs on seven hits in the bottom half of the fourth.
The Trojans got three homers in the inning and sent 11 men to the plate as they broke the game open. Trevor Halsema and Johnny Olmstead each hit two-run homers in the fourth, and Adrian Colon-Rosado hit a three-run shot. Nick Lopez opened the scoring with an RBI double.
Halsema would hit his second two-run shot of the day in the fifth as part of a four-run inning for USC. D'Andre Smith and Colon-Rosado also drove in runs in the frame.
The Trojans used seven pitchers on the day, getting 2.0 scoreless innings from both Isaac Esqueda and Kyle Wisch. Carson Lambert tossed the final 2.0 innings, giving up just a run in the ninth.
Rhylan Thomas had three hits in the game, giving him nine straight games with multiple hits.
