Bishop, Teperson Lead Bears Past Spartans

Apr 27, 2022

BERKELEY – Alexis Bishop broke a scoreless tie with a grand slam and Annabel Teperson threw six innings of one-hit ball in the circle to lead Cal past San Jose State, 4-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Levine-Fricke Field.

Kennedy Thomas recorded two hits and Kacey Zobac added a double for the Bears (26-20-1). Jenessa Ullegue hit a home run in the seventh to pace the Spartans (20-24).

HOW IT HAPPENED
Teperson continued her strong outings as of late, mowing through the SJSU lineup and was perfect through four. The Spartans finally recorded their first hit in the fifth, a single up the middle, but Zobac picked her off at first as Teperson faced the minimum through five.

Cal got all the offense it needed in the fifth thanks to the big bat from Bishop. Thomas singled to start the inning and following back-to-back walks, Bishop blasted her fifth homer of the season way over the scoreboard in left field.

Teperson followed by setting down the Spartans in the sixth before they got a solo home run off of Anna Reimers in the top of the seventh.
