After a light week of competition, Utah checks in at #46 in the latest USTFCCCA National Polls and eighth in the Mountain Region. As a team, Utah is ranked in the top-10 in three events; checking in at No. 7 in the 5000m, No. 8 in the 400m Hurdles and No. 9 in the 800m.
Individually, Emily Venters owns the sixth-fastest time in the 10000m so far this outdoor season after posting a 33:07.74 mark at the Mt. SAC Relays while also checking in at No. 15 in the 5000m with a time of 15:47.79 set at the Stanford Invitational. Meanwhile, Cara Woolnough's school record time of 15:40.52 from the Bryan Clay Invitational currently sits at No. 11 in the NCAAs this season.
The Utes are off to one of the top races in the country this weekend at the Drake Relays. As a team, Utah will look to compete for the Hy-Vee Cup title this weekend – which is given to the team with the highest point total among the relay events. In addition to the relay events, Simone Plourde, Lauren Peterson and Hannah Butler will compete in the 1500m races. Plourde will compete on Saturday in the seeded race while Peterson and Butler race in the unseeded section on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Karli Branch and Ally Gomm will head north to Bengal Invitational this Saturday, April 30. Branch will race in the 3000m steeplechase while Gomm competes in the 400m Hurdles.
The Utes had a low-key weekend at the Robison Invitational and competed just on Saturday, April 23, with a limited group due to weather conditions. Lauren O'Banion was the lone Ute to record a new personal record time of 25.35 (aa) in the 200m dash.
After returning from the Drake Relays, Utah closes the regular-season with the Oregon Twilight and have it serve as primer for the Pac-12 Championships (May 13-15) – which will also be held at the newly reimagined Hayward Field.
