TUCSON, Ariz. - The second day of the 2022 Beach Volleyball Championship was full of rivalry matchups and a few upsets.
No. 4 seed CALIFORNIA eliminated No. 3 seed STANFORD with a 3-1 victory after dropping both regular-season results to the Cardinal. In the next contest, No. 6 seed ARIZONA STATE upset host and No. 5 seed ARIZONA, 3-1, in a battle that punched the Sun Devils' ticket to the final day of competition. The Golden Bears and ASU will kick things off tomorrow morning in the Contenders Bracket at 9 a.m., with the winner advancing to face No. 2 seed UCLA at 11 a.m.
Top-seeded USC beat the Bruins for the third time this season in the last match of the day to advance to Friday's final against whichever team emerges from the Contenders Bracket (UCLA, CAL, ASU). The championship match will be played at 2 p.m tomorrow in two flights, starting with pairs two and four, followed by pairs one, three, and five.
