Relay Teams Take Center Stage on Friday at Drake Relays
DES MOINES, Iowa – The relay teams on both the distance and sprint side both had record-breaking races for the Utah track & field team on Friday at the Drake Relays.
Utah's 4x1600m relay squad of Sophie Ryan, Keelah Barger, Cara Woolnough and Simone Plourde went out and ran a record-setting time of 19:11.37 to take second overall in the morning. Kelise Davis, Maya LeBar, Megan Rose and Lauren O'Banion was the next group of Utes to hit the track, checking in at 47.41 in the 4x100m relay.
Later in the evening, Jasie York, Brooke Manson, Emma Earl and Josefine Eriksen teamed up to set another school record – this time in the 4x800m relay with a time of 8:35.59. Utah's 4x200m relay quartet of Davis, Bailey Kealamakia, Makenna McCloy and O'Banion closed the day out with a sixth-place finish at 1:40.34.
Utah currently sits in fifth with three points in the Hy-Vee Cup standings after finishing in fifth in the 4x800m relay.
The Women of Utah will conclude the weekend on the Blue Oval tomorrow, Saturday, April 30, starting with the DMR at 11:10 a.m. (MT) followed by the sprint medley relay at 11:38 a.m. and the 4x400m relay at 2 p.m.
