Women of Utah Cap Off Drake Relays with 4x400m Relay Victory

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Utah track & field team had a great showing at the Drake Relays this weekend and capped it off with a victory in the 4x400m relay Saturday afternoon on the famous Blue Oval.
 
Sophie Ryan, Josefine Eriksen, Brooke Manson and Simone Plourde kicked off the day with a runner-up finish in the DMR, posting a time of 11:17.92 – which ended up being the fourth-fastest time in program history. Racing in its first sprint medley relay since 2017, Utah's crew of Kelise Davis, Maya LeBar, Oneillia Fuller and Jasie York came through with a time of 3:57.04 to take fifth overall.
 
With its final event of the weekend, Utah's Skyler Blair, Lauren O'Banion, Fuller and Eriksen teamed up to run a 3:41.95. Blair gave the Utes a solid start with a 56.59 opening lap before O'Banion put Utah in first with a 55.89. Fuller kept the pace going with a 55.87 on her lap before Eriksen turned on the jets with a 53.61 to secure the win.

 
The Women of Utah finished the weekend with 16 points and finished fifth overall in the Hy-Vee Cup standings. Utah picked up eight points from its runner up finish in the DMR while collecting four points in the 4x800 and sprint medley relay. At weekend's end, Utah picked up one event victory, three runner-up finishes, five top-five finishes and a pair of top-six finishes.

 
Utah closes out the regular-season next weekend at the Oregon Twilight on Friday, May 6, which will serve as its primer for the Pac-12 Outdoor Championships (May 13-15) the following weekend. Both meets will be held at the newly reimagined Hayward Field.
