Bears Fall In Sunday Finale At No. 14 ASU

TEMPE, Ariz. – California out-hit No. 14 Arizona State, but fell 8-0 in five-innings to close out the series on Sunday afternoon in front of 1,438 at Farrington Stadium.

Tatum Anzaldo went 2-for-3 on the day for the Bears (26-23-1, 6-12 Pac-12) as Cal collected eight hits to ASU's seven on the afternoon. Cydney Sanders went 2-for-3 at the plate for the conference-leading Sun Devils (35-7, 16-2 Pac-12).  

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Devils got on the board early for the first time this weekend, hitting a pair of solo home runs in the first frame to take a 2-0 lead after one complete. It was 4-0, ASU, after a two-run home run in the second inning.

Cal had chances to get on the board in the second and the fourth innings, but left a pair of baserunners on in each of the frames. The Bears had six hits through four without anything to show for it on the scoreboard.

ASU got a 2-RBI single in the fifth to secure the run-rule victory, capitalizing on eight walks in the game.  

UP NEXT
The Bears return to Levine-Fricke Field for the final home series of the season against Arizona. First pitch in game one is scheduled for 3 pm PT on Friday, May 6.
