Arizona Track Honors Seniors at the Desert Heat Classic

TUCSON, Ariz. - At the Desert Heat Classic, the seniors of Track and Field were honored before the running events began. Each senior has represented the Wildcat name with pride with excellent collegiate careers and performances.
 
In her career as a Wildcat, Megan Bounds clocked a 6k PR of 22:45.9 during the UC Riverside Invitational. She ran a 23:55.1 in the 6k at the Dave Murray Invitational to help secure the team win for the women's side. Bounds was a Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year Nominee and has earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Honors. Bounds is currently pursuing Master's in Public Health and plans to apply to medical school after graduating.
 
Jaisen Brown threw a new PR at the Desert Heat Classic with a best new mark of 60.92m (199'10") to place in fourth on his senior day. In the shot put at the Jim Click Shootout in 2019 with a throw of 14.95m (49'0.75"). Brown will graduate with a Bachelor's in Business management and hopes to go into Space Force after school
 
Jakob Chamberlin threw two personal bests in his senior season with a discus throw of 56.17m (184'3") and 64.34m (211'1") in the hammer throw. During the indoor season he broke his weight throw PR with a mark of 19.67m (64'6.5"). After being a GNAC Discus champion at Concordia University before transferring to Arizona, Chamberlin placed third during senior day at Desert Heat in the hammer throw. As a double major in English and History, Chamberlin plans on pursuing firefighting in the Pacific Northwest after school.
 
Maddy Christopher was the women's top finisher at the 2021 Pac-12 Championships in cross country. The distance runner has set four personal-best marks during her final season as a Wildcat including the 800m (2:14.84), the 1500m (4:29.26), the mile (4:52.69) and the 3000m (9:54.69).  At the Desert Heat Classic she placed in the top eight in the 1500m run. Christopher will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and plans to pursue her master's degree at USC.
 
Shem Kemboi set two PRs in his senior season as a Wildcat during the outdoor season with PR marks in the 3000m and the mile with respective times of 8:34.98 and 4:29.24. Kemboi placed in the top-12 of the 1500m run at the Desert Heat Classic. Kemboi is graduating with a Bachelor's in public health and plans on applying to graduate school after graduation
 
Timothey Kibet added experience and consistency to the Arizona distance squad in his final season as a Wildcat. He earned two new PRs in his senior year, with an 800m time of 1:51.90 at the ASU Invitational and a 1500m time of 3:55.23 at the Jim Click Shootout. Kibet placed seventh in the 1500m run at his senior day at the Desert Heat Classic. Kibet is pursuing his Bachelor's in political science and plans on going to graduate school after graduation.
 
Lillian Lowe was 2021 Outdoor Second-Team All-American and 2019 Indoor First-Team All-American who qualified in the high jump for the U.S. Olympic Trials in 2021. The senior jumper won the high jump competition at the 2019 MPSF Indoor Track & Field Championships. Her best high jump mark was 1.87m (6'-1.5") at the Desert Heat Classic in 2021. Lowe has placed in the top three of each meet she has competed during her senior season as a Wildcat, winning the Jim Click Shootout at Roy P. Drachman. Getting a Master's in Real Estate Development, Lowe is planning on moving to Florida to work in commercial real estate.
 
Shannon Meisberger is the holder of multiple school records including the 600m she broke this season, running a 1:28.19 and the 600y dash with a time of 1:19.60. She is also in the 4x400m relay that holds the current record of 3:30.67. Meisberger also finishes with the seventh-fastest 400m time of 52.61 and the fourth-fastest 400m hurdle time of 55.70. The hurdler was the 2021 NCAA Runner Up in the 400m Hurdle and a 2021 First-team All-American as well as 2019 outdoor All-American (400m hurdle, 4x400m). She also qualified for the semifinals in the 2021 Olympic Trials. During her senior day at the Desert Heat Classic, she took home her eighth event win of the season with a first-place finish in the 400m hurdles. Finishing her Master's in Classical Archeology, Meisberger wants to pursue her doctorate and continue running career.
 
Samantha Noennig is a school record holder in the Indoor Shot Put with a collegiate-best throw of 18.25m (59'-10.5"). She has the fourth best outdoor shot put in Arizona history at 18.17m (59'-7.5") and the sixth best discus at 55.09m (180'-9"). Noennig was wildly successful during her time in college athletics, becoming the Pac-12 Shot Put champion in 2021 and 2019, the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Shot Put champion in 2019, and the 2019 MPSF Shot Put champion. She is a six-time All-American and was named to the Cosida 2020 First-Team All-Academic. She is another Wildcat that competed in the Olympic Trials shot put and made the finals in the shot put. She placed second at the Desert Heat Classic in the shot put and fourth in the discus to round out her senior day. Noennig is finishing Master's in public health and wants to attend PA school after graduation.
 
Tiana Poirier-Shelton is a senior jumper for the Wildcats who has the ninth best long jump in school history with a jump of 6.07m (19'11"). Poirier-Shelton also owns the seventh-best triple jump with 12.20m (40'0.5"). At the Desert Heat Classic, the jumper finished in the top-15 of the women's long jump. She is graduating with a Master's in public health.
Kaelyn Shpiley finishes her career at Arizona with the school record in the new javelin (since 1999) with a throw of 51.02m. She is graduating with a Bachelors in Agricultural Technical Management and plans to work on a coffee farm in Hawaii after graduating.
 
Trent Stimac has a best mark at Arizona in the 100m with a 10.51 time. He competed as a member of the 4x100 relay team that placed third at the Pac-12 Championships with a time of 40.10. He is graduating with a Bachelor's in wildlife Conservation and Management and after college, Stimac will move to California and work for one of the conservation centers there.
 
Trevor Volpe was an essential part of the Pac-12 championship 4x100m relay team that placed second in 2019 and third in 2021. In the 60m, his fastest mark was 6.86 to go along with best marks of 10.51 in the 100m dash and 20.91 in the 200m. Volpe is finishing Master's in Business analytics and MBA.

A school record holder in the 4x400m relay, running the opening leg to finish with a time of 3:03.58. He holds the fifth fastest 400m time in school history with a 45.76. Williams was a 2019 and 2021 outdoor All-American in 4x400m relay as well as a 2018 Pac-12 4x400m champion. At the Desert Heat Classic for his senior day, he finished in seventh for the 400m dash and third in the 4x400m relay. Graduating with a Bachelor of General Studies Science Technology Health Society, Williams is going to continue his sprinting career as a member of the Team Philippines national team.

Calvin Wilson is also a school record holder with Maj Williams in the 4x400m relay, where he ran the second leg in the 3:03.58 team. Wilson logged the ninth fastest time in school history in the 400m hurdle with a time of 51.24. His 400m PR is just outside the top-10 in school history with a 46.33. During his career he was an 2021 Outdoor All-American in the 4x400m relay and ran a leg in the 4x400 relay team that placed second at the Pac-12 Championships in the same year. At the Desert Heat Classic, he placed sixth in the 400m hurdles and was a part of the third place 4x400m relay team. He is graduating with a Bachelors in General Studies with an emphasis in Sports and Society and plans on finishing his Master's degree.
