Bayerlova Selected for 2022 NCAA Singles Championship

May 3, 2022

PULLMAN, Wash. – Fifth-year senior Michaela Bayerlova has been selected to the 2022 NCAA Singles Championship field, the NCAA announced Tuesday. This marks the third time Bayerlova has participated in the NCAA Singles Championship, tying Erica Perkins for most in program history.

Bayerlova has compiled a 17-2 record this season, including a 12-2 mark while playing at the No. 1 position. Bayerlova is 6-1 against nationally-ranked players, including a straight-set win over No. 14 Connie Ma of Stanford, and is currently ranked No. 36 in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll.

This will mark Bayerlova's third trip to the NCAA Singles Championship, going in 2018 and 2019, her freshman and sophomore seasons. In 2019, she posted a first-round victory over Winthrop's Lauren Proctor, becoming the first player in school history to win a singles round at the NCAA Championship.

The 2022 NCAA Singles Championship is hosted by the University of Illinois and will be held May 23-28 at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex in Champaign, Illinois.
