No. 15 Ranked Doubles Team Makes NCAA Tournament

May 3, 2022

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon's doubles team of Joshua Charlton and Quinn Vandecasteele have been selected to participate in the 2022 NCAA Division I Championships.

One of 32 teams selected, the No. 15 ranked pair will head to Champaign, Ill. for the tournament. The singles and doubles competition will be conducted May 23-28 at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex in Champaign, after the conclusion of the team championship, which runs from May 19-22. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will serve as host.

All matches shall be the best-of-three sets. No-ad scoring and a 7-point tiebreaker (first to seven points, must win by two points) at six-games-all will be used for all matches. In doubles, a 10-point match tiebreaker will be played in lieu of a third set.

Charlton and Vandecasteele finished the dual season with a record of 14-6 and had a season-high eight-match win streak in January/February. The pair played on court one throughout the Pac-12 season and secured wins over Washington, UCLA, Cal, Arizona, and ASU, closing the season with back-to-back wins over the Arizona schools.

This is the second Oregon doubles team to make the individual championships and first since Guillermo Carter and Leslie Eisinga made it in 2000. Charlton and former teammate Ty Gentry finished the pandemic-shortened 2019-20 season ranked 10th in the country.
