Rajcic Selected UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week

May 3, 2022

LOS ANGELES – Sophomore Max Rajcic of the baseball team has been selected the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Ready, for April 26 – May 2.

Rajcic led UCLA to a 19-2 series-opening win over Arizona State on Friday night, taking a one-hitter into the ninth inning. He faced the minimum through six, and established new career highs in strikeouts (11) and innings (8.1). Despite sitting in the dugout for 45 minutes while UCLA scored 13 runs in the bottom of the sixth, he came back out and struck out the side in the top of the seventh. ASU didn't get to him until the ninth inning, cashing in on a double-single combo. He finished with a final line of 8.1 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 11 K.

UCLA would go on to sweep ASU, outscoring the Sun Devils 42-12 for the weekend. Rajcic also earned Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week honors.

It's the first-career Student-Athlete of the Week award for Rajcic.
