UW Men Earn No. 2 Seed At NCAA Stockton Regional

The Washington men's golf team will travel to Stockton, Calif., to play in an NCAA Regional May 16-18. The Huskies earned the No. 2 seed at the 14-team regional, one of six around the nation.
 
The 54-hole regional will be played at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton. Pac-12 programs earned the top-three seeds for the regional, with No. 1 Arizona State and No. 3 Stanford on either side of the UW.

The NCAA men's golf tournament field includes 81 teams in total, with either 13 or 14 teams at each of six regional sites (others besides Stockton are: Norman, Okla.; Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; Columbus, Ohio; Bryan, Texas; and New Haven, Conn.). Each of those regionals will host three rounds (54 holes) of stroke play, with the low five teams and one individual (top individual from a team other than the five advancing teams) will advances to the National Championships, May 27-June 1 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
 
Those 30 teams and six individuals will play three rounds before the field is cut in half. Those 15 teams will play a fourth round, with the top-eight finishing teams advancing to match play quarterfinals.
 
Earlier on Wednesday, the Pac-12 announced that UW senior RJ Manke was named Pac-12 Men's Golfer of the Year and head coach Alan Murray was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year. Manke was joined on the All-Pac-12 first team by fellow senior Noah Woolsey, the 2022 Pac-12 medalist. Teddy Lin made the second team, while Petr Hruby earned honorable mention.
