Buffaloes Close Out Regular Season At Air Force
BOULDER – The University of Colorado track and field team closes out the regular season Friday evening at the Air Force Twilight.
The Buffs will compete the combined events and throws athletes with eight athletes competing in multiple events and 12 competing in singular events.
The decathlon and heptathlon men and women will compete in various events with Nick Bianco competing in the 400, 110 hurdles and pole vault while John Swabik will compete in the 110 hurdles, high jump and long jump. Jada Green will represent the women and work on her 100 hurdles and javelin.
The Buffs will have a mix of freshmen and seniors competing, with Aidan Christiansen, Noah Bouchard and Jackson Meyer finishing up their first regular seasons as a Buff. Christiansen will compete in the 100 and long jump, while Bouchard will compete in the high hurdles and high jump. Meyer will compete in both horizontal jumps.
A pair of CU athletes will compete fresh off walking at graduation Thursday with Ryan Charles competing in the high jump and Dominique Williams competing in the hammer throw.
The final track athlete will be Kara Lucyk in the 400 hurdles, while Allie Routledge will be the lone women's high jumper competing.
The rest of the athletes competing will spread out across the four throwing disciplines. Lauren Whyrick and Elena Opp are the only throwers doubling up with Whyrick in the shot put and hammer throw while Opp competes in the discus and hammer.
For the men, Lars Atkinson will focus on the discus, while Tyler Sconce and Clayton Castro will join Williams in the hammer ring. Henry Carlson will compete for the men in the javelin.
On the women's side, Obi Osafo-Mensah is throwing the discus while Jane Powers, Gya'ni Sami and Bella Braun join the others in the hammer throw.
The Buffs begin postseason competition next weekend at the Pac-12 Championships in Eugene May 13-15.
