Huskies Fall in Game One at Utah
SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 9 Huskies dropped their series opener 5-2 at Utah on Friday night.
Gabbie Plain got the start in the circle and tossed five innings with four strikeouts. Sarah Willis came on and pitched an inning in relief.
Utah scored two runs in the first on a sacrifice fly and a sacrifice bunt for the 2-0 lead.
The Utes plated three runs in the fifth for the 5-0 advantage.
In the sixth, Baylee Klingler hit a two-out single up the middle to send Madison Huskey up to the plate. Huskey sent her 13th home run of the season over the left field wall, cutting Utah's lead to three at 5-2.
Looking for a rally in the seventh, Willis came in to pinch-hit and hit an infield single to put a runner on, however a line out to the pitcher ended the game with the final score of 5-2.
The Huskies and Utes meet for game two on Saturday afternoon. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. PT with the game airing on the Utah Live Stream.
