SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 9 Huskies dropped the second game of the series to Utah, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon. Washington is 33-13 on the season with a 12-8 mark in Pac-12 play.
Utah brought in the first run of the game on a two-run home run in the first inning.
The Huskies responded in the top of the second. With two outs, Jadelyn Allchin hit a single out to right field. Kelley Lynch was able to reach base in the next at bat on a Utah error. Rylee Holtorf sent the RBI single through the right side, cutting the Utes' lead to one at 2-1.
Utah added a run in the fourth for on a bases loaded single that brought in a run for the 3-1 advantage.
Washington once again chipped away at Utah's lead when Jenn Cummings sent her first home run of the season over the left field wall.
The Huskies tied the game at three in the sixth after the first three batters reached to leadoff the inning. Pat Moore came up to bat and hit an RBI single up the middle.
The Utes had runners on second and third with one out in the bottom of the seventh, when Halle Morris hit the walk-off single for the 4-3 win.
The Huskies and Utes meet for the series finale on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is set for 11 a.m. PT with the game airing on the Utah Live Stream.
