USC Beach Volleyball's Tina Graudina, Hailey Harward Named AVCA National Pair of the Year
LEXINGTON, Ky. – USC beach volleyball All-Americans Tina Graudina (Jurmala, Latvia) and Hailey Harward (Phoenix, Ariz.) were chosen as the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Collegiate Beach National Pair of the Year, the association announced on Tuesday, May 10.
The duo went 31-1 overall at the No. 1 position for the Trojans and ended the season on a 30-match win streak to help USC capture back-to-back NCAA Championships. The streak is the second longest by a pair in program history.
Graudina became just the fourth collegiate player to receive All-America laurels four times in her career—the second Trojan with Sara Hughes—and Harward earned her first-career All-America nod.
Graudina-Harward claimed Pac-12 and NCAA all-tournament honors and was chosen for the AVCA's Top Flight Award at the No. 1 spot last week. They were named the AVCA/CollegeBeachVB.com National Pair of the Week (April 4) and garnered Pac-12 Pair of the Week honors twice this spring (March 15, April 12).
Graudina is a four-time Top Flight selection and received her record eighth Pac-12 Pair of the Week award this year. Harward became a three-time Pac-12 Pair of the Week winner.
Already an Olympian with a fourth-place finish at the Tokyo Games last summer, Graudina completed her collegiate career with an incredible 122-9 record to rank sixth all-time program history. Harward—combined with wins from her time at Long Beach State—collected her 100th-career victory this season and finished her career with a 107-32 mark. The pair dropped just eight sets all season and provided the clinching point for the Trojans in 15 victories.
This is only the second time that the AVCA has named a National Pair of the Year; the first time a USC pair has been chosen. Last year, LSU's Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss were the first pair to be selected for the honor.
Under the direction of third-year head coach Dain Blanton, the Trojans captured the program's fourth Pac-12 championship and fifth national crown (four NCAA championships). USC ended the season on a 36-dual win streak—the second longest consecutive run in program history—and brought home the University's 134th all-time national championship.
