Bonstrom Selected CoSIDA Academic All-District
SALT LAKE CITY – Senior Ellessa Bonstrom has been named to the 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 First Team, as the College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday.
This is the first CoSIDA academic selection for Bonstrom in her career and is the first Utah player since Alyssa Barrera was selected first team back 2020.
An Easton/NFCA Division 1 Scholar Athlete her freshman season, Pac-12 All-Academic selection her sophomore year and Pac-12 Honor Roll selection in her junior campaign, Bonstrom recently graduated earning her bachelor's degree in Information Systems.
On the field it's been a career year for Bonstrom, who's started in all 49 games she's appeared in this season and picked up her second Pac-12 postseason honor on Wednesday being named All-Conference First Team.
The team leader at the plate, Bonstrom leads the lineup in batting average (.380), slugging percentage (.729), on-base percentage (.511), runs (42), walks (31) and home runs (11). The Tucson, Ariz., native is seeing career bests in runs scored, hits (49), walks, sacrifice flies (5) and stolen bases (10) in her senior campaign. She has also put together the longest hitting and reached base streak on the team at 11 and 24 games, respectively, while posting 12 multi-hit/RBI performances.
In the Pac-12, Bonstrom heads the conference in sacrifice flies and ranks in the top-10 in batting average (10th), RBI (9th), walks (2nd), runs scored (4th), on-base (4th) and slugging percentage (10th).
Bonstrom was selected as part of an 11-player squad that includes student-athletes from Arizona State, California, Oregon, Seattle, Stanford, UCLA and Washington.
All Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in June.
