USC Rowing Ready to Race in Pac-12 Championship

LOS ANGELES— No. 15 USC women's rowing will travel to Dexter Lake to compete in the Pac-12 Championships this Sunday (May 15) in Lowell, Oreg. 
 
The Women of Troy are facing off against a highly skilled group of Pac-12 boats. Five of the seven Pac-12 crews are ranked in the most recent Pocock/CRCA Top 20 Poll. Stanford leads the Pac-12 in the Pocock/CRCA Poll ranking No. 2. Next on the poll in No. 7 is reigning Pac-12 Champion, University of Washington. Then comes University of California, Berkely in No. 10, and Oregon State University in No. 13.
 
The Women of Troy's first race will begin at 9:30 a.m. PT with the Third Varsity Eight. USC next hit the water at 10:00 a.m. PT for the Varsity Four race followed by the Second Varsity Eight at 10:20 a.m. PT. The Varsity Eight will close out the morning of competition at 10:40 a.m. PT.
 
The Pac-12 champion shall be determined by a point system. Placement in each race has a pre-determined number of points that will be awarded to the respective finisher (the women's Novice race will not be scored and does not factor into the team championship scoring). The team with the most points if crowned the Pac-12 Champion. For the full point system, see the chart below.
 
Should there be a tie, the finish in the women's varsity eight will be utilized as a tiebreaker.
 
In 2021, the Women of Troy placed seventh at the Pac-12 Championships. The Varsity 8+ placed seventh, along with  the Second Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+.
